Snow caves acquired, mixed bag of weather, decent elevation gain with some steep bush wack sections near the top of the valley, balanced off with a unique perspective of Evan's Peak, Blanchard's Needle and lots of boot skiing!
This trail surprised me... the trail itself was a bit more work that I expected.. and we pushed it 80% up the run out behind Blanchard's Needle... we peaked out at 883m.(right about the point where we noticed a mountain goat watching us suspiciously from cloud cover about 200m above)
The best place to find the snow cave is at the base of the main snow field under Edge Peak (the right side of the fork if you are looking at the Google Earth image below)... there are some very unstable caves and broken snow fields lower down the valley...its the one at the base of the main snow mass you want.
Initially met two guys at the junction of Evan's creek and the main rock flow who were already on their way down and then later on we met a group of three on our way out at the second debris field whom were also seeking caves... hope you guys were successful with the directions I gave. And just as a reminder, I just use Google My Tracks on my android... its just a simple tracking tool... mostly accurate and serves me well. Not at all something you need for more of the back country stuff.
Have fun and who knows maybe I will see you on the trails!
Regards, Rex.
