Tenquille lake is great and refreshing and it deserves a high credit but the logging road that leads to it is long and uneventful. We parked where the snowline started 12Km away from the lake. It could have been better if the weather was nicer. However, it is best to do it when the snow is gone where you can bike the logging road to the trailhead or perhaps drive it if you have 4x4 car. The trail is about 4Km away from the lake. The road to where we parked might be doable with a 2x car but there are rough sections and sharp rocks and it would be hard at least on the tires. There is a section where there were few rock slide and makes the road exposed on a high cliff.
The hut on Tenquille Lake is old and creepy. It seems also that it is heavily infested with rats. It is not a place to spend the night in. The hut is located on the other side of the lake close to the weather station. It was covered by about 2-3 meters of now. It was barely visible.
The mountains by the lake are promising and it is a good idea to spend sometime to explore them. The lake was generally still frozen but not crossable as the edges were pretty much have been melted.
The logging road that leads to the lake is located about 15Km from D'arcy town. It starts about 400m after Poole creek. The beginning of the logging road is called Portage Rd and not Birkenhead FSR as some maps and guide books suggest.
The GPS track attached includes part of the logging road. The batteries died when we reached to the lake. Some of the pictures that I took after that are not goetagged.
