We did the new BCMC WaterSprite Lake Trail on May 27th. The rough ride from the FSR took us more than 45 mins to reach the trail head, you need 4x4 or high clearance SUV to drive up. The trail condition was pretty bad, fallen branches, overgrown brushes, wet & muddy all the way for the first 2-3 km, then tons of snow when we reached to an elevation of 1,050m, those melting snow made us more difficult to move even we have crampons and snowshoes, there are several stream that we have to cross with fast flowing water. We started 10:30am from the yellow gate trail head and only made it to 1,270m at 4:00pm where we saw the Martin Peak & Waterspite Tower, we decided to turn back as all of us were tried and exhausted after the long hike, the weather factor was another concerned, its was a beautiful sunny day with no cloud, unfortunately there were no trees shaded for the entire trail and we were directly exposed under the sun for so many hours. May be this is not the right time to go Watersprite Lake Trail in May. We will wait and return in September. Scenery are breathtaking along the hike.
