DIRECTIONS: The trail leaves right from the Batsto Village Visitors Center parking lot. From Route 30 in Hammonton, follow Pleasant Mills Road to Batsto Village Rd.
Right now, the bridge on Pleasant Mills Road is under construction and you must follow a well marked detour.create
SUMMARY: Like Atsion Village, Batsto Village started life as an iron forge. Through the years Batsto has worn many hats, iron forge, farm, lumber mill, glass factory, and finally state park. Batsto forms the focal point of several popular trails, as well as a number of trails just accessible from the village.create

Batsto Village
Dec 26, 2011
After leaving my camera behind on the first hike of the White trail at Batsto Village, I decided to do it again. I had planned to take my GPS, too, but dead batteries waylaid that idea. This is a nice little hike you can do in about an hour, though on the second hike, I added a hike out the loop to Tom's Pond.
This hike is not much on getting somewhere, but being somewhere...very nice for a little 'get back to nature' break. The trail meanders through a gently undulating forest floor where you see plentiful evidence of deer and turkeys, and often actually stir up the same. Eventually you end up following the shoreline of Batsto Lake where you will often see Canada geese and a variety of ducks.
Overall, this is a very enjoyable hike I will likely do more times in the future.
