Hiking Lembert Dome is an outstanding reward in terms of views and enjoyment for such little investment of time and effort! This pretty rocky dome can be hiked along the trail, or scrambled up the South side from the road (as we've seen some do), or climbed.
The bottom part of the trail is in the shade thanks to the trees, and the dome itself is wonderfully grippy sloped granite rock. Not sure I'd be happy to be there in wet weather, though. Quite a few people didn't feel comfortable proceeding past the flatter sections as it may feel somewhat exposed, so we hardly had company on the top.
This photo album contains photos from the viewpoints along the Tioga road, the Tenaya Lake, Lemebert Dome and Dog Lake.
