The trail is beautiful. We started at Sumallo Grove with the intention of turning around at 28 Mile Creek (9 km down the trail) but forest fire has recently gone through this area making the trail difficult to navigate after you leave the ecological reserve .. about 8 km. After doing a lot of climbing over fallen and burnt trees we finally got to a point, probably at 8.5 km that the trail became almost impassable and it kind of disappeared. So we turned around at that point. Not sure how much longer the forest fire was but from Sumallo Grove to about 8 km you are good to go. Hope BC Parks cleans up the trail soon as it’s really a wonderful trail and you can choose to go all the way to Skagit Valley Road (one way 15 km).
