Snow free until junction at Singing Pass. Lots of water on the trail up to the pass - waterproof footwear saves you time. Crossing Harmony Creek is a bit sketchy, but if you stay high there is a flagged route across the debris flow. From the junction to Russet Lake, there are unavoidable snow patches averaging around 1m deep. Some areas of post holing, but not enough to warrant carrying snowshoes. The top layer of snow varies from firm to slush. Traction aids are fairly useless. Poles, gaiters, and careful footwork are your best defense for now. The lake is 25% thawed. NO BUGS (yet). Bring your own TP for the (leaning) outhouse at camp. Wildflowers are just coming into season - I saw bog orchids, stream violets, marsh marigold, pasque flower, lupines, paint brush, sitka valerian, tufted phlox, cinquefoil, and glacier lilies.
