We were in Parksville/Coombs for my work for the weekend so wanted to check out some local hikes. We were originally planning on heading up Mount Horne, which starts from Cathedral Grove, but the weather didn't want to co-operate on Sunday morning, so we decided to just do the loop through Cathedral Grove in MacMillan Provincial Park. Beautiful even on a gloomy, rainy day. Full of massive trees, many still standing and quite a few fallen and slowly being reclaimed by the forest. Rain continued throughout our little walk so we decided to head over to Horne Lake Caves, which I'll write a little report for too. Would definitely recommend checking out Cathedral Grove if you are in the area, not too far from Parksville and Qualicum.
