Not very typical for me to re-visit the same destination (summers are so short!), but joining a Meetup trip was a hassle-free option I couldn’t resist. Not to mention it was another good way to challenge myself on this somewhat exposed scramble.
An uneventful hike to the lake (the creek crossing over logs is doable without getting your feet wet) and a steep bushwhack up the south ridge following the flagged route brought us into the alpine. Snow on boulder fields got to that level when travelling on it is great until one gets close to the rocks and punches through. Once on the ridge, we seem to have taken a slightly different approach than 2 years ago: I remember traversing on overgrown slabs more than ridge scrambling. Mostly good rock, veggie belays, the famous chimney crux which I found probably easier than a few other places, some exposure and the beautiful summit to enjoy. Thanks to Alex for another wonderful trip.
