The hike to the falls is on very easy, well maintained trails.
There are two official routes to the falls and one detour route if you dare to go past the "Hazardous" warning sign and up the old trail. Which of course I did! While most of the old bridges and stairs are in bad shape and there is some dead fall you need to skirt around it is still a very passable trail and much prettier along the river than the new "safer" route.
The three hour trip included a long lunch break and relax time at the falls.
Apparently the trip to the lake is 5 hours each way including canoe time so you can't do it in a day and get the canoes back before closing. I'll do it as an overnight later this summer.
