This is one my favorite hikes on the North Shore. We hiked The Peak last Saturday. It took us 1.15 minutes from the beginning of the Peak trailhead. The terrain was nicely compact and easy to hike with just a few muddy spots toward the top; however, you still need to mind the large loose rocks that make up the trail for the first 30 minutes or so. There were only a handful of people at the summit, as the majority were coming dowmn as we were ascending. Beautiful view, though a bit hazy and a ton of black flies everywhere. Dress warm as it cools off quickly once you reach the summit and stop moving. A bit treacherous navigating our way down...wet slippery roots and rocks and hiking poles would have been handy on our descent. I wouldn't recommend hiking this trail without proper hiking shoes, or if you have weak ankles or knees. This is definitely a great workout and you encounter far less people than you would at the Grouse Grind.
