Carne Mountain is another trail going through golden larches.
4 of us hiked there on Sunday. I also visited the south peak where the remnant of an old lookout is, as well as a small butte before it. There are side trails to the base of both. The rest is easy scramble.
However, traversing the south peak to north is not advisable (going down the north ridge of the south peak). The map looks gentle, but in reality many steep mini peaks along the way.
The view is superb all the way from the meadow and up.
