Mount Maude

Oct 13, 2019
We climbed Mount Maude on Sunday. We camped at Leroy Basin Saturday night. The weather wasn't idea. Snow starts around 5500'. Leroy Basin is partially covered with ~1" of snow.
Road condition: bad. High clearance recommended.
Larch: good timing
Trail condition: clear to Leroy Basin, minor creek crossings. Climbing route was clear first, then cairns, then buried in snow. Some route finding needed. Once at the saddle, where you cross from the west side of the ridge to the east, view of Upper Ice Lake. Deep snow or rock from then on, no more tracks. Very windy on the summit ridge.
We took the green route (south most) on the map at the bottom of this page. https://www.summitpost.org/mount-maude/150386
