We hiked to Brew Lake then Brew Hut, dumped our gear and then wandered up to Keg peak for some stellar views of this gorgeous area. Brew Lake is still a bit snowy, the upper lake is completely snowed in still as are the ponds around the hut, you will be melting snow for water if you stay there overnight. Keg peak was a 3 hour return trip (including a long 2nd lunch break) and staying at the hut was great since we had it all to ourselves. The upper part of the logging road access still has lots of deep nasty water bars, lots of vehicles were parked lower down on the road, but a stock Subaru managed to make it to the trailhead as of course did my modified Delica 4x4 van. For the Keg Peak trip we side hilled on moderate snow slopes along the north side of the ridge until we could get onto the top of the ridge and followed that until we found the sloping heather ramp (see photo #11) that took us right up to the top.
